Contactless Smart Card Wall Switch Reader

The Symmetry S822 is designed for mounting on most standard electrical backboxes for ease of installation.

The Symmetry S822 Contactless Smart Card Reader is able to read both HID® iCLASS™ smart cards, and the card serial number on Philips® MIFARE® smart cards.

For either type of card, the Symmetry S822 supports the use of unencoded cards (where only the unique card serial number is read). In the case of HID iCLASS cards, an encoded card number can be read. Encoding formats supported include HID’s own formats and our own “smartMAX” format.

The Symmetry S822 can be connected to the Symmetry multiNODE-1000, Symmetry multiNODE-2 SMD, Symmetry multiNODE-2000 and Symmetry multiNODE-2100 controllers and is compatible with Business, Professional, Enterprise and Global Software at Version 6.0.2 or later.

Unlike Wiegand interface readers, the Symmetry S822 uses secure, bi-directional, Pseudo-Random supervised communications between the Symmetry multiNODE controllers and their associated readers. An alarm will occur if communications are lost.

A distance from any of the Symmetry multiNODE controllers to the Symmetry S822 reader of up to 3000ft (1000m) can also be achieved.

The Symmetry S822 has a maximum read range of up to 2.5” (65mm).

Other key reader features include LED’s for visual indication of card accepted or card rejected and an integrated buzzer for card read and door pre-held warning.
